Life Update

I’m slowly getting back to writing. The quarantine has been a challenge for me – it has significantly increased my workload at my day job. I was already in the midst of depression before the lock down started.

And in the face of so many people losing loved ones – I hesitate to bring up my own grief, as it seem so much less. But I had to put my cat down last week. She was at least 14 (I adopted her as a rescue, so her age was always an appoximation).

She began ailing a couple weeks ago, and after trying some medical interventions, euthanasia was the only option. She’d ceased eating or drinking, and I was watching her slowly starve to death. Given the social distancing measures, only one person could be with her – so I chose to stay and be with her during the injection. I just couldn’t let her go into that alone.

The vet and his staff were so kind, and they let me stay with her before and after.

I’m slowly recovering. I have a couple of stories I am working on – and I will be editing another few chapters of Giving up the Ghost.

I’m even planning on submitting an anthology later this month.

Thanks for sticking around and continuing to read.

  1. So sorry to hear about your loss – whatever the circumstances it never gets any easier – we’re using our enforced time at home to sort out thousands of old photos and keep coming across ones of our cats – one was with us for 17 years but has been gone for nearly 30 nevertheless the pleasure she gave us and the sadness of losing her is still part of our lives. Take care of yourself and I look forward to the coming instalments of “Ghost”
